An Exuberant Declaration of Faith

A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

As I begin this day, I begin with the confident words of Psalm 27 – “The Lord is my light and my salvation; The Lord is the strength of my life”. As I go through this day, help me to follow Your directions and Your guidance. Whether it’s in big decisions or small ones, I want to follow Your life light. And when things seem to weigh me down, help me to trust that You are my strength. And as I walk through another day, help my priorities to be in the right order. Just like the psalmist declared, help my one desire to be in Your house – in Your presence. Better is one day in your house than thousands elsewhere! When my priorities are right, I can see You so much more clearly. So keep me, hide me, set me on Your rock so that this day is going to be all about You and not me!
