This book was written by Jason Martinkus with the assistance of Stephen Arterburn. If you have read any of the “Every Man” series of books, you will quickly recognize Stephen Arterburn’s name. About 10 years ago, he began a series of books that were, in my assessment, the best series of books ever written on the subject of pornography and sexual sin. For this book, Arterburn takes a back seat role in order to support Martinkus’ work. As you read, you will quickly appreciate Martinkus as an excellent speaker/writer on the subject.

If you have any desire to save your marriage in the aftermath of sexual sin, you need to invest the time in reading and applying the book. This book continues the powerful approach of the Every Man series through honest, practical, and biblical advice. In fact, I believe this is the most beneficial book to address the subject of sexual sin since those books were first introduced a decade ago. Martinkus goes the next step beyond the Every Man series to deal with the healing process of a marriage relationship impacted by sexual sin. The healing addressed in this book relates to marriages impacted by both pornography and affairs.

As Martinkus states in the first chapter, “Part of the motivation for writing this book is to give husbands and wives a more accurate idea of what the process of healing trust looks like”. To accomplish that goal, Martinkus does not offer simple formulas and quick fix remedies. Instead, he offers advice that is based on years of walking with couples through the rebuilding process. He debunks the myths and seeks to define a realistic process of healing. I thought chapter 2 alone was worth the investment of the book – as Martinkus challenges the myths of recovering from sexual sin.

I highly recommend this as a resource for couples seeking to rebound from sexual sin. As a pastor, I will be placing this on my shelf as a book to recommend to those walking through these challenges. I appreciate the thorough approach of Martinkus and hope that many will benefit from his efforts.

I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review.
